My focus is on East and Central African history, right now writing a book
on East Africa's colonial nutrition legacy, focusing on the Nyasaland
Nutrition Survey of 1938-40 and the subsequent Nutrition Development Unit.
Previous work looked at the nutrition study of Maasai and Kikuyu in 1929
and issues of matriliny and patriliny in Nyasaland ( Malawi ) and the
gendered implications. Prior work was on the Giriama rising in Kenya in
1914.
