Social history and historical demography of Africa, with a focus on Chad,
Libya, Central African Republic, Algeria, Mali, and Burkina Faso. 
Specific research topics include: slavery, the slave trade, social
reproduction, low fertility, migration, and, problematizing population
history of the continent.
