I am currently researching for a Ph.D. in History seeking to compare the
post 1990 development of the ANC of South Africa and SWAPO Party of
Namibia.  With reference to a comparative examination of their histories
as liberation movements in exile in particular, the concentration is on
their recent political development as legal mass-based parties.  Specific
attention is being given to the state of extra-parliamentary organisation,
and to relations with the union federations - COSATU and the NUNW - and
other sectoral allies such as SASCO and NANSO.  My interest in this area
stems from a continuing involvement in Namibian & South African solidarity
and anti-racist activities.
