She received her Ph.D. in Women's Studies from Emory University in 2007.  
She also holds an M.A. in Gender Studies from Makerere University (Uganda) 
and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota. 

Her research and teaching interests include post-colonial African history; 
gender and militarization; armed conflict and forced migration; oral 
history; and global feminisms.  

She is currently working on a book manuscript entitled, "Beyond the 
Barrel: Gender, Power, and Militarism in Idi Amin's Uganda, 1971-1979."
