My current research is centered on the grassroots democratization in both
Tanzania and Senegal and the role that external development organization
play in promoting and spreading democracy at the local level.  In addition
I am interested in the importance of religion in transmitting political
values and ideology.

I am also currently managing editor of "African Studies Quarterly" -- the
online journal of African studies.
