Kees Kingma (Netherlands) is an economist, working since 1994 as Project
Lea der for Demobilization and Peace-building at the Bonn International
Center for Conversion (BICC). At BICC, he directs and implements several
research and advisory projects. His current research focuses on the
implementation and im pact of demobilization of ex-combatants and their
reintegration into civilian life, and on demilitarization and
peace-building in Southern Africa. He previously worked with the Free
University Amsterdam (research in Ghana), the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) in Uganda and New York, and with the Evert Vermeer
Foundation in Amsterdam. He has published and lectured widely on several
development issues and conducted advisory and other consultancy work for
several multi-lateral, governmental and non-governmental organizations. He
was a member of the UNDP team preparing the Human Development Report 1991,
1992 and 1993, and contributed the sections on global demobilization and
reintegration to BICC Conversion Survey 1996, 1997 and 1998.
