1. ecological and historical research in Botswana and Namibia, focus on
the San/Bushmen peoples and on hunter-gatherers in Africa.
2. the political economy of post-apartheid South Africa;  ethnicity and
the politics of identity.
3. anthropology of health;  cultural and social factors in the AIDS
epidemic in southern Africa.
