Research interests:  
Colonial Namibia, 19th and 20th century, particularly Ovambo history and
issues of gender, generation, conversion to Christianity, and the migrant
labor system.  Currently doing work on court cases and localized conflicts
involving definitions of insanity, as well as changing practices of
marriage and initiation, abortion, and infanticide.
