Teaching:
Human Ecology and Conservation in Africa, including 'Environment and
Resource use in Kenya', 'Women and Land in Africa', 'Famine', 'Environmental
Perception and Indigenous Knowledge"

Research: 
Sacred forests and other natural sacred sites (in particular the kaya
forests of coastal Kenya) - indigenous conservation strategies and modern
conservation issues. Barkcloth in Uganda; economic, environmental and
aesthetic aspects of its production and sale. Monitoring of the activity of
Oldoinyo Lengai volcano, Tanzania.
