Archaeologist with primary research interests in the later prehistory and
precolonial history of Eastern Africa.  Recent fieldwork and publications
on state formation in western Uganda.  Recent papers in Journal of
African History, The Holocene, Archaeological Papers of the American
Anthropological Association, Azania. Earlier work on early pastoralism
with monograph and numerous articles.
