Teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate levels:
Pre-colonial and colonial Africa; the social, political, economic and
environmental challenges of independent Africa; the land issue in South
African history; the history of the anti-apartheid movement (1948-1990);
democratisation in South  Africa; the environmental impact of apartheid.

Research:
Environmental history, specialising in the history of environmentalism in
South Africa, and the environmental struggles that surround multinational
oil companies' involvement in Africa.
