Arts of the Lagoon populations (Lagunaires) of Côte d'Ivoire within 
the context of the art histories of the Akan peoples of Ghana and Ivory 
Coast

African architectural history and its relationship to African art 
histories

The ancient, Islamic and contemporary art of Egypt within the context of 
African art histories

Modernism and modernity in African art, and its reception in contemporary 
art markets

The social life of art works; art objects as active agents in 
cross-cultural exchanges

African artists and their biographies
