I do research on southern Africa, mostly writing on Zimbabwe and Angola.
I have published numerous books and papers on Zimbabwe and, to a lesser
extent, Angola. I have also begun some research on Rwanda and published a
review article on the literature of the genocide and the Great Lakes
conflict.
Besides teaching at several universities in the US, I served as a
Commonwealth adviser for the British Labour Party and a consultant to the
Minister of Information and Foreign Affairs in Zimbabwe in the 1980s.
I am also on the reviewers' list for H-Net Africa.
