  The international politics and strategic affairs of the Levant
and the northern Gulf, including:
  The Arab-Israeli peace process
  The Islamist challenge, especially in its international
political dimension
   U.S. policy toward the region, especially the dual
containment of Iraq and Iran and other regional security issues,
such as terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass
destruction.

Geographical area of focus includes: Iraq, Iran, Israel, the
Palestinians, Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon.
