Lawyer and diplomat by profession, amateur librarian and bibliographer on
Oman. Generally interested in Oman since 1968, I founded a private
inter-disciplinary "Oman Studies Centre" in Germany in 1975. The main task
is to monitor, collect and catalogue books, articles and any other material
on Oman (partially including the UAE and the Gulf in general). The Centre is
presently mainly "virtual", i.e. it consists of bibliographic data which at
the moment is partly stored in conventional (catalogue cards) and
increasingly converted into electronic form. The collection of books and
other materials itself is not publicly accessible at the moment, but there
are plans to set up an Oman Library in Berlin with the help of the
German-Omani Association founded in 1992. I do provide bibliographic
services (however, no document delivery service available at present) and
e-mail enquiries are welcome. The provisionals website for the Oman
Studies Centre is: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/oman
