DESCRIPTION OF YOUR WORK
Ph. D. from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago (1990).
Specific research interests are in Hittite language, history and culture,
as well as Anatolian and Near Eastern archaeology. General interests center
on the Late Bronze Age Mediterranean, but also cover prehistoric periods
through Late Roman/Byzantine eras. Director of the Alishar Regional Project
in Yozgat Province, Turkey. Field experience in Israel (Tel Dan and
Ashkelon), Armenia (Horom), and Turkey (Kurban Höyük, Titrish Höyük, Çadir
Höyük, and Alishar Höyük). Personal research questions have emerged from an
interest in the relationship between man and his environment, especially as
they touch on economy, subsistence, social change, state formation, and the
emergence of organizational complexity in ancient Anatolia.
