Anthropologist / Archaeologist / 
Zooarchaeologist concentrating on the interpretation of mammal and 
bird remains from archaeological sites in the Middle East.  Primary 
interests include the political economy of pastoral systems, the 
origins of animal domestication, and the appearance of food taboos.  
Current projects involve collections from Israel, Iran, Iraq and Yemen 
and periods from the Middle Paleolithic to the Hellenistic/Roman.  
Sites include Ashkelon, Tel Dan, Tel Batash, Megiddo, Beth Shemesh, 
Tel Hesi, Ein Hagit, Tel Miqne and Tell Jemmeh in Israel, Tepe Ganj 
Dareh in Iran, Shanidar Cave in Iraq, and Hajar ar-Rayhani in Yemen.
