PhD in anthropology from research on Bedouin in Syria. Extensive teaching
and publishing experience in Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies,
including Islam. Currently an independent scholar and principal of Almanar
Consultancy providing market research, cultural briefings, professional
development, community and strategic reports, and in-country
representation for commercial and cultural exchange between Australia and
the Arab and Islamic world. 

Research interests: Bedouin, physical and social space in Arab society and
Islamic cultures.
