Director of programs at the Middle East Institute (MEI), with
responsibility for MEI's research projects, conferences and seminars. He
is also a doctoral candidate at the Johns Hopkins University School of
Advanced International Studies, where he has written dis dissertation on
Iraq's foreign policy and political economy from 1978 to 1990.

A specialist on Iraq and Middle East security issues, he has conducted
field research and interviews in Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Syria, Israel, the
West Bank and the Golan. He is a regular contributor to scholarly books,
journals, conferences, and media programs dealing with the Middle East.
