Arabic linguistics, particularly sociolinguistics, concentrate on Egyptian 
dialect and the interface between fusha and the dialects.  Egypt, Cairo, 
terms of address, syntax, morphology, native speaker's ability with fusha, 
also Arabic language teaching/pedagogy, materials development, computer 
assisted instruction.  I currently moderate the Arabic-L list 
(arabic-l@byu.edu).
