Curator in charge of an art museum department which
contains collections of Mesopotamian, Iranian, Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan,
Roman, Islamic and related areas. My speciality is Egyptian art, particularly
Egyptian drawing, Egyptian painting and the decorative arts. I am also
a practicing archaeologist, currently Associate Field Director of the
Brooklyn Museum excavation at the Precinct of the goddess Mut at Karnak.
Published books include works on Egyptian drawing, Mummification, the history
of Egyptology and the history of the detroit Institute of Arts.
