I am a scholar at the Dept. of Arabic Studies, Islamic Art & Architecture
with a fellowship involved in architectural research, also with the
Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo.
Fields of research: 1. 20th century Islamic architecture in Egypt; 2.
Colonial architecture in Egypt; 3. Modern reinterpretation of Islamic
architecture; 4. Modern architecture in Egypt; 5. Work of Italian
architects in Egypt in the 19th and 20th centuries; 6. Mosques of the
Awqaf in Egypt. Cities: Cairo and, to a lesser degree, Alexandria and
Ismailiya.
At the moment I am writing a book about an Italian architect, Mario Rossi,
who worked as the chief architect of the Awqaf, the Religous Endowments
Ministry.
