My current interests concern gender, statebuilding and imperialism. My
work so far has focused on late 19th and early 20th century Syria and
Lebanon. I plan further work on modern Turkey, Tunisia and possibly other
regions. I am also interested in issues concerning public space, the press
and cinema.
