Work Description: I teach and research in both classical and modern
Islamic history and thought. Over the past decade or so I have undertaken
a special research interest in medieval Arab culinary tradition which
later developed into the study of dietetics where I have attempted to
examine the interface between the medical and culinary traditions. More
recently I have been developing projects related to Islam and modernity
which embraces the Arab world, Iran, Turkey and the Indian subcontinent.
