My archaeological work centres on the Sultanate of Oman and South Asia.
Excavations have taken place in al Amqat, Samad al Shan, al Maysar, Raki,
al Amla, and al Bustan. The emphasis of his work is the latest period in
the Sultanate of Oman prior to the establishment of Islam. From 1976 to
1979 the German Archaeological Mission devoted it efforts to the during
the study. The emphasis since 1986 has been the Iron Age in Central Oman.
In 1994 I finished my Habilitationsschrift, Die Graeberfelder in Samad al
Shan (Sultanat Oman) Materialien zu einer Kulturgeschichte. The emphasis of
the German Archaeological Mission to Oman war from 1996 to 1998 a structuring
of the Iron Age in the Sultanate of Oman. Studies such as these belong to
Near Eastern Archaeology. A major question in our work was the date of the
reception of Islam in southeast Arabia.
