Description of work:

My work can be divided up into a number of areas, broadly, critical
international relations studies, science studies (esp. of the developing
world), globalization, and issues to do with intenational knowledge
production.  Representative publications include "Toward a Reflexive South
Asian Security Studies", in M. G. Weinbaum and C. Kumar, eds, _South Asia
Approaches the Millenium: Reexamining National Security_ (Boulder:
Westview, 1995); "Landscape and Postcolonial Science" in R. Reid and S.
Traweek, eds, _Located Knowledges: Doing Cultural Studies of Science,
Technology and Medicine_ (New York: Routledge, forthcoming);  Guest editor
of a special issue of _Sojourn_ (Singapore) on _Southeast Asian
Diasporas_, vol. 12, no. 2, 1997;  and my recently published study of the
culture and politics of the nuclear establishment in India, _The Making of
the Indian Atomic Bomb: Science, secrecy and the postcolonial state_
(London and New York: Zed Books, 1998).  For the next three years, I will
serve on the South Asia Council of the Association of Asian Studies
(1999-2001).
