Description of work:

Social and cultural anthropology, Himalaya hills of India and western 
Nepal, especially Kumaon and Garhwal, also the terai. Work on Bhotiya 
society, ethnohistory, also historical anthropology, history of earlier 
social system. Lately more ecosystem and community development, forest 
use in Uttar Pradesh and other regions of India. Also doing work on 
Southeast Asia and USA Appalachia. Affiliated with M. P. Joshi, Almora, 
UP, India.
