Description of work:

My primary interest is Vedic religion, including Indo-European
archaeology, proto-Indo-European language re-construction, Indo-Iranian
religion and language reconstruction, and Rg Vedic language. Although most
of my work has been on Rg Veda, I am beginning to be interested in later
developments in the Vedic period. 

I am currently teaching a course in Vedic religion and in the Spring will
teach one in Vedic texts (semester 2 of third-year Sanskrit). I am working
on a book, tentatively to be entitled Vedic religion; an introduction. It
will be intended to be just that, with a minimum of jargon and scholarly
paraphernalia. I am also cataloging a collection of Sanskrit astronomical
manuscripts, although I have no background in astronomy.
