Description of work:
My doctoral dissertation focuses on the 1947 Partition of South Asia, 
particularly the work of the Radcliffe Boundary Commission in the Punjab.  I 
am examining factors that influenced Radcliffe's decisions and the ways that 
the new boundary affected the two Indian and Pakistani nation-states, as 
well as the people living in the divided areas.  My interests include 
cartography, gender studies, and the use of partition as a tool to resolve 
ethnic conflict.
