Biographical sketch:
Ph. D. in Religious Studies from the University of Pennsylvania,
specializing in classical Indian thought.  Presently Professor of Religion
at Texas Christian University.  Research interests include jivanmukti
(liberation while living) in Advaita Vedanta, and the impact of modern
Western thought on modern Advaitin thinkers (creating what can be called
Neo-Vedanta).  Recent publications: Co-editor (with Patricia Mumme) of
*Living Liberation in Hindu Thought* (SUNY Press, 1996), and *Jivanmukti
in Transformation:  Embodied Liberation in Advaita and Neo-Vedanta* (SUNY
Press, 1998).
