Description of work:
Sri Lankan Society and Culture, Politics, Ethnic Conflict, Rural Classes; Anthropological Field work conducted between 1985-86 in a Kandyan rural settlement on stratification. Ph.D completed at Monash University in Australia in 1990. Taught Sociology and Anthropology at University of Peradeniya between 1974-1986. Since 1990, teaching subjects in multicultural studies at the University of New England. Currently serving on editorial board of South Asia (Journal of the South Asian Studies Association of Australia). Doing research and writing on Sri Lanka, Sri Lankans, immigrants. Have published journal articles on Sri Lankan affairs and maintain a close interest, mainly research at this stage. Organising the 7th Sri Lanka Studies Conference, Canberra, Australia, Dec. 3-6, 1999.

Wish to contact other scholars/students who are working on Sri Lanka related issues for professional exchanges of ideas, planning future research, etc. Willing to supervise/examine postgraduate work in the area.
