Description of work:

The Veda, Vedic South Asia, Indo-Aryan migration and culture,
Dissertation:  "The developing terminology of reference to the self in
Vedic South Asia."  Research using electronic texts (e-texts) and
hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML) for mapping semiotic and semantic
patterns in Vedic Literature.  Analyzing Nirukta and PaaNini for semiotic
and Natural Language Processing models.  World-wide Web database and
research demonstration at http://vedavid.org. Proto-type/pre-alpha seed
 tester for Apple Computers' forthcoming Indian Language Kit for non-roman
script internet and WordProcessing usage.  Interested in using TEI/SGML
standards for synthesizing growing database of e-texts in the
Humanities--specifically Vedic South Asia.  Broader interests included
origins of language and linguistic theory, Proto-Indo-Aryan cultures and
migration, Dravidian history, Harrappa, Mohenjo-Daro, Zend-Avesta,
Zoroaster/Zoroastrian tradition.  Working to develop Java and C++
applets/applications for academic tools to maximize e-text use and
analysis.
