I am currently in my 3rd year of graduate studies (Phd) in socio-cultural
anthropology at Temple University. I am in the process of completing my
qualifier exams and applying for grants to continue my res earch on how
caste and class function amongst the Catholics and Hindus in Goa, India.
Right now I am working on a paper on the festival of St. Francis Xavier.
I spent this past summer in Goa researching the festival and making
initial contacts for my future fieldwork. I can speak portuguese and
Hindi and am learning how to read and write Hindi so that I can learn
Konkani when I get to Goa.
I am interested in any additional sources on the topics of Portuguese
colonialism in India, films/photographs on Goa, history of the Jesuits in
India, Indo-Portuguese art and architecture. If you need any additional
information please feel free to email me or call me at my home phone
number. Thank you.
