description of work:

I am an art historian of South Asia working primarily in Kerala (Malayalam
language). My work involves mural painting, sculpture and architecture
(mainly secular, that is, palaces and domestic architecture) in Kerala.  I
am interested in art and kingship, art as expression of kingship, palace
architecture in Kerala during colonial period as expression of local
identity.  Also working on project involving painting and patronage in
Kerala. In my role with the Independent Scholars of South Asia (ISOSA), I
will organize a series of conferences and/or panels on Uses of Visual
Evidence in the Study of South Asia," a three-year interdisciplinary
endeavor.
