Description of work:

My research is based in Kutch, Gujarat and looks at the state and the 
construction and practice of citizenship, the social production of 
religious identities (primarily Hindu-Muslim), the idea of Islamic 'reform',
Hindu nationalism, the dynamics of a "regional" identity (Kutch 
vis-a-vis Sind), in the present historical moment, filtered through the 
earthquake in 2001 and riots in 2002.
