description of work:

My dissertation research is on gender and nationalism in South Asia.  The
focus will be on the Gandhian period in India (1919-1933) and recent Tamil
separatism, especially the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam [LTTE], in Sri
Lanka. Other interests include Marxism and nationalism and questions
pertaining to the Muslim social formation in Sri Lanka.
