Description of work:
In terms of research work directly or indirectly related to South Asia, I
am interested in issues of interaction between marketing and development,
environment, and social justice in South Asia, particularly in India. 
Apart from historical approaches to the political economy of India as well
as the current context of liberalization in India, I am working on drawing
out the similiarities and common avenues between (a) Advaita and
postmodernism; and, (b) Carvaka/Lokayata philosophy and the materialism of
Greek philosophers. 

Also underway is a project exploring the "Ghazal" as a medium for
romance, fantasy, nationalism and revolt.
