Description of work:

Research:  India, specifically Madhya Pradesh, with major interests in
economic and social change, and gender roles in rural and urban areas of
South Asia.  Primary geographical area of research is Raisen District,
Madhya Pradesh, near Bhopal.

Photography:  Have enormous collection of professional-quality
photographs of South Asian subjects, especially India, and also Bhutan,
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and Afghanistan.

Publications include articles and books on South Asian women, purdah,
work, religion, folklore, clothing, fairs, caste, and kinship.
