Description of work:
I have worked on Kerala and Punjab. I have written about modern politics 
and society in Kerala and have been particularly interested in the 
decline of matriliny, radical politics and "development". I have written 
about the 1980s insurgency and secessionist movements in Punjab. My 
current work is on Indian-language newspapers and their transformation 
since the late 1970s. This has led me to an interest in media, 
communications, marketing and advertising.
