Description of work:
Research Interests:
I am interested in how transgenerational familial influences shape life
paths. I have conducted fifty life story interviews in Jaipur City, India.
In each family I have conducted several interviews. My work uses insights
from family systems therapy to see the family as an interlocking
socio-emotional system of relationships. I have studies how 'family
scripts' exert influence on the occupational and educational trajectories
of each generation. More broadly I have linked my analysis to an
understanding of how various types of capital are transmitted through the
family system.
