Date of Birth:  October 7, 1952.  

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in History. The topic of specialisation is Siva Icons of the Madurai
Temple . A detailed study on the icons, their forms and comparison to the
sculptural texts. Madurai Kamaraj University (1989)

M.A. Master of Arts in History. The special subjects are, World
Civilisations, International Affairs of the 20th Century, British
Constitutional History, and History of Far East and Pacific. University of
Kerala (1974)

B.A.  Bachelor of Arts in History. The allied subjects are Economics and
Modern Governments. Madurai Kamaraj University (1972)

Diploma in Communication The special subjects are Public Relations,
Advertising, Correspondence, and Journalism. Madurai Kamaraj University
(1988)

Desk top Publishing Word processing and operational knowledge of personal
computer (windows) and all techniques in brochures making. 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 

In India, served in the School Of Historical Studies, Madurai Kamaraj
University, (Madurai) as a Lecturer in History for 8 years and as a Senior
Lecturer for 4 years. Participated in teaching the history of various
regions and cultures, guiding Graduate Students, pre-Doctoral and Doctoral
candidates. Also organising conferences and seminars. Editor for the
Journal of Historical Studies published by the Madurai Kamaraj University. 

Published several books: The Medieval Arabs (1977), Cultural History of
India (1981)and Madurai Sultanate (1989). Also published 32 papers,
reviewed 4 books and served in the Examination Boards of Madurai Kamaraj
University, Madras University and Autonomous Colleges. 

Travel and Conferences:  Attended conferences in Heidelburg
University,Germany, visit to the University of Brussels,and to University
of Basel. Attended International Conferences at Norway, Denmark,
Switzerland and United Kingdom. 

Indian Participation; Served as an office bearer and member of many
intellectual Asian Organisations including Indian History and Culture
Society, New Delhi and Ecumenical Christian Centre, Bangalore. 

PROJECTS: Completed three projects financed by the University Grants
Commission, New Delhi and the Madurai Kamaraj University. All these
projects are based on Archival Sources and field study. 

IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:

Attended the South Eastern Conference on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (SECAD
1990) at Atlanta, Georgia (1990) arranged by the American Society of
Addiction Medicine and Charter Medical Corporation.
