Professional Experience:
After majoring in Urdu at Peking University from 1970 to 1974, he went to
Pakistan as an interpreter and stayed there for two years. He had an
opportunity of studying in the English Department of Peking University in
the following two years. He became a teacher of Urdu at Peking University
in 1979. From 1980 to 1982, he took advanced Urdu course in the National
Institute of Modern Languages, Islamabad, Pakistan. Since then, he has
been teaching various Urdu courses at Peking University. He was appointed
as the Vice Chairman of the Department of Oriental Studies in charge of
teaching and studying activities in 1987. He has been to Iran and the
Philippines separately in 1991 and 1993 on an academic visit to Tehran
University and Ateneo de Manila University. He is a member of Indian
Literature Society of China.
