Description of work:

I teach Elementary and Intermediate Telugu classes (including Andhra 
history and culture) at Columbia University. I have taught at the 
undergraduate and graduate levels in Hyderabad, and at Columbia 
University. As the Associate Editor for South Asia of the Bibliography of 
Asian Studies, I index articles pertaining to South Asia from various 
journals and books for the BAS, an online publication of The Association 
for Asian Studies, at Columbia University Libraries.

I have a Masters in Library Science degree from Queens College (New York). 
I also hold a Ph.D. in Indian history from Osmania University, Hyderabad, 
India with a fellowship from the UGC (University Grants Commission). My 
dissertation title was Trade in Andhra: 1876-1914.

My topics of research and teaching interest include:

* Colonialism and imperialism in South Asia
* Indian economic and social history
* Trade, entrepreneurship and environmental history of India (esp. 19th
    and 20th centuries)
* South Indian history
* Andhra Pradesh culture and history
