description of work:

Bibliographer; member of Duke University Library's International and Area
Studies team, mainly responsible for collection development and reference
services for South Asia (India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka)
and the Middle East. Laguages known: Can speak, read and write: English,
Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. Can read only: Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi and
Sanskrit. 

Main area of interest: South Asian government documents: The government
publications of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and the
Indian Princely States documents.  In 1975-76 did a survey of South Asian
government publications in U.S. libraries, as a Fellow of the Council on
Library Resources. Visited Pakistan in 1992 as a Fellow of the American
Institute of Pakistan Studies, for a survey of Pakistan official
statistical sources. 

Publications:"A Union List of South Asian Government Serial Publications
in the Major U.S. Libraries." It also includes a section on the Indian
Princely States documents. To be published by The Scare Crow Press. 

"A Catalog of the Louis and Nancy H. Dupree Collection: Afghanistan,
Anthropology, Archaeology, Islamic Central Asia, Ethnology, Military
History, South Asia and related Subjects." Durham, NC, William R. Perkins
Library, Duke University, 1994. xix, 362 p. (LC: 94-67612) $10.00 (This
collection consisting of about 4,000 titles is part of the Duke University
Library general collection.) Includes an introduction to the collection
and the work of Louis Dupree, by Ralph Braibanti (p. xi-xix). 

In preparation: "A Guide to the Official Statistical Sources of Pakistan." 
(Projected date of completion the Fall of 1996). 

"A Bibliography of Bibliographic Sources in Indian languages." (Projected
date of completion the end of 1996 or early 1997)
