Description of work:
History of religions and pre-modern devotional literature in the New 
Indo-Aryan languages of north-western India (Gujarati, Braj, Rajasthani, 
Marathi). Textual studies in Bhakti hymnology and hagiography. Vernacular 
poetry of Islamic communities in Gujarat (Sufi and Ismaili). Gujarati 
religious hymnology (mainly Vaisnava, but also Tantric, Jain, Parsi, 
Islamic).
