description of work:
Dr. Manian teaches in the dual programs of International Relations and
History at Lynchburg College (Virginia). Her teaching and research 
expertise is in the regional politics and economics of Asia (both South 
and East Asia), the circum-Caribbean, and Europe.  Dr. Manian's interests 
revolve around issues of international security, trafficking of women, the 
politics of extremist violence, and regional organizations.  She is 
currently working on a book-length manuscript 
(Security Politics of China, India, and Pakistan), while completing two 
articles, (i) on China-Taiwan Security Politics in the Circum-Caribbean; 
and (ii) Ecotourism and Identity Politics in Guyana.
