description of work:

Chief interests are Hindi-Urdu language, literature and linguistics. 
Particular fields include:

1. modern standard Hindi, its history and development;
   Hindi dialects, especially Brajbhasa, Avadhi, Maithili;
2. lexicography, especially of Hindi-Urdu;
3. early Hindi literature, its history and development,
   especially Krsna and Radha devotional (bhakti) poetry;
4. development of literature and cultural change in
   north India in 19th-20th centuries;
5. Indian languages more generally.
