Description of work:

I am a geographer who conducts ethnographic research in the area of critical
development studies. I am interested in the purpose, operations, and
processes of development discourse construction, and the power dynamics
involved in these processes. I am particularly interested in the effects of
these processes on women's lives and spaces. Currently I am studying NGOs as
sites (within a wider development aid regime) where meanings of development
and modernity are created and negotiated.

Research area: northern Rajasthan; Churu, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh districts

Research interests: development, gender, critical social theory,
human/environment interaction, water resources

Keywords: development, gender, Rajasthan, NGOs
