Description of work:

Areas of Interestes: Micro-Credit, Gender Issues in Development, Helath
and Population Planning.

Currently, I am completing my dissertion on "Womens' Involvement with
the Grameen Bank Micro-Credit Program in Rural Bangladesh." The
disssertation research was conducted under the International Fellowships
of the Social Science Research Counicil, SSRC, New York. I am also the
receipient of the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, New York,
Dissertaion Fellowship (1996), the Sol Tax Memorial Award of the Chicago
Anthropology Exchange, University of Chicago (1996), the R.F. Sailsbury
Award a national award of the Canadian Anthropology Society (1994). I
have a Master Degree in Sociology from the University of Dhaka,
Bangladesh, M.Phil in Social Anthropology from the University of Oslo,
Norway.
