Description of work:

My research on international development, conflict/ terrorism, and applied
systems analysis seeks to make complex technologies and public policy
issues accessible to wide audiences. I have collaborated on several books:
Groping in the Dark: The First Decade of Global Modeling, Breakthrough:
New Global Thinking, Making it Happen: A Positive Guide to the Future,
Ending Hunger: An Idea Whose Time Has Come, and Democratization in South
Asia: The First Fifty Years. My most recent book, Paradise Poisoned:
Learning About Conflict, Terrorism, and Development from Sri Lanka's Civil Wars
(to be released in January 2005), engages the political economy of
conflict and terrorism in Sri Lanka and beyond. I belong to numerous
professional networks and organizations and I continue to serve as a
Director of Sri Lanka's International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES).
